Why is the San Antonio Spurs such a Lovable Team? |

More than a decade later, a franchise kept its core of players in the lineup but also its front office members. Is that a rare thing in the NBA you might ask? Well, yes. The NBA is all about business. It is an association where players and front office staff become expendable no matter the value they bring to the franchise. But, here comes the San Antonio Spurs, who for some reason, showed that loyalty still has its place in the league. The Spurs is a dying breed, they are a franchise, in spite of the business side of things, can still open their emotional sides and keep things intact. Keeping in mind that they aren’t the most flashy team in the NBA. Bitcoin sportsbooks list the Spurs to win the 2017-2018 championship with +1000 odds and to win a total of 54.5 games this coming season. This just proves how dominating this franchise has become. Going back to the question at hand, what makes the franchise so lovable? This goes for reasons as listed. Firstly, Gregg Popovich has been the head coach since 1996. That’s 21 years already (and counting). I think this is how the Texas franchise kept its core because of the genius coaching and by the way, Popovich is also the president of the team. The Spurs still holds the ‘most winning-est big-three’ with 575 wins, which consists of the Spurs’ constant, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili. These three players have played for a total of 14 years, a dynasty, in which could last as long as a player’s career in the NBA. In addition, the franchise is known for not changing its roster and would prefer to hold on to its star players. The Spurs is known to be just about basketball and to practice class and elegance, whether in practice or at a game, the players will still be the same people. There’s no drama involved. The players and coaches have never been involved in any scandals and they respond with enthusiasm rather than antics and hype. It is true however, the Spurs may seem boring and flat. But, for a person, who also share the same principles in life, does not see it as the same. Dealing with situations quietly and lowkey (does everything inside an organization, without getting to the public) is a rare practice nowadays. Everything needs to be shared, whether on the internet or needs to be public. Class does not have to go, it's always needed, especially in today's time.
